Liquid flat roof encapsulation

Could your flat roof be renewed, not replaced?

A liquid-applied coating can renew the waterproofing on a suitable flat roof without stripping off the existing covering. We inspect the roof first, explain the options and carry out the preparation and coating work it needs.

What is liquid roof encapsulation?

A liquid roofing system is applied over a prepared surface and cures to form a continuous waterproof membrane. It can follow the shape of the roof and its details, including complicated details around penetrations.

On a roof that is suitable for a liquid system, this means the existing covering can stay in place. The survey establishes its condition and the preparation needed, including local repairs and attention to joints and edges.

We undertake this work on commercial and residential buildings across the UK.

When a coating is not the answer

A new surface cannot put right every problem beneath it. The existing roof build-up, damage and condition need to be assessed before a liquid system is recommended. If the roof needs more extensive work, we will explain that rather than simply price a coating.

The preparation matters

A coating needs the right surface beneath it and careful detailing around the places water can get in. We set out the preparation and repairs before application. Shown here: a liquid-coated flat roof completed by Heritage.

Flat roofs over homes and working buildings

From a simple torch-on felt roof on an outbuilding to single-ply roofs on commercial buildings, and lead roofs too. The survey establishes whether a coating suits the surface and its condition.

How we renew a flat roof

  1. Inspect the roof

We check the covering and problem areas, including previous repairs, drainage outlets and roof details.

    Arrange a roof survey
  2. Explain the proposed work

Your quotation sets out the preparation, repairs and liquid roofing system recommended for the roof.

  3. Plan the installation

We organise access and discuss the working areas and programme with you.

  4. Prepare, coat and inspect

We carry out the preparation and apply the specified system, then inspect the completed work.

Your flat roof questions

What is liquid flat roof encapsulation?

It is a way of renewing a suitable roof with a liquid-applied waterproofing system. The liquid cures to form a continuous membrane over the prepared covering and roof details.

Is every flat roof suitable?

No. The existing covering, construction, condition and extent of any damage all matter. We need to survey the roof before we can recommend encapsulation.

Do you work on commercial and residential flat roofs?

Yes. We undertake roof-coating work on homes and commercial buildings across the UK. Suitability depends on the roof itself, rather than whether the property is residential or commercial.

How long will the system last?

That cannot be answered responsibly without the exact roof, preparation, system and supporting documentation. Any stated term must come from the approved project specification and named issuer.
